WELCOME TO BRIDGE WITHOUT TEARS, the website for Vaughan Bridge Guides, which offers a series of bridge booklets and tuition by David Griffiths (see below).
David is an experienced bridge player and teacher who holds the English Bridge Union's Gold Level Teaching Diploma and has 'processed' many hundreds of adult bridge students. He has written earlier books in collaboration with the late Rhoda Lederer but more recently has concentrated on specific booklets published under the imprint of Vaughan Bridge Guides, which celebrates its sixteenth anniversary this year.
These booklets have grown out of material used successfully in bridge classes and have been comprehensively tested to make them easy to read and absorb.
Each guide is thorough, reliable and mercifully concise.

The Little Black Bridge Book Basic Acol bidding described by hand shape for easy reference For the less experienced player |
The Losing Trick Count A simple guide to improved hand valuation For everyone |
Weak 2-bids for Acol players The easy way to incorporate weak 2-bids into your system For the serious player |
As the booklets concentrate on bidding it is proposed to provide a practice hand on declarer play or defence on the home page each month - based on previous publications. These are not aimed at an advanced level but illustrate the basic methods that can help one to become a popular partner and an opponent to respect.

Bridge classes
David apologises to all his bridge students that he is unable to continue to run classes in the Harpenden/St Albans area. For family reasons, he is planning to re-locate to the Okehampton and Tavistock area where he hopes to establish some further bridge enterprises.
